The short version
- Checking happens in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere to be checked.
- Your documents are saved to your account so you can open them anywhere. Only you can read them.
- Rewrite is the one feature that sends text out: the passage you choose goes to our server and to Groq to write an alternative. We don’t keep it.
- We don’t sell your data, show ads, or use your writing to train anything.
What we keep
- Your account: name, email, and the writing preferences you pick.
- Your documents: the text, its title, its goals, and saved versions.
- Your dictionary, turned-off checks, and the suggestions you chose to keep: the flagged word or phrase, so it isn’t flagged again.
- Reports you send: which check, why, and the flagged words only if you tick the box to include them.
- A daily rewrite count, to apply the free plan’s limit. Not the text.
Who else handles it
| Service | What for | What it sees |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | database and sign-in | your account, documents, versions, dictionary and settings |
| Vercel | hosting | requests to the app, without document text in logs |
| Resend | your email address, for sign-in emails | |
| Groq | rewrites | only the passage you press Rewrite on |
| sign-in, if you choose it | your name and email from your Google account |
The browser extension
The Fairtake extension for Chrome and Edge checks the text box you're writing in, on that page, on your device. It makes no network requests: the checker is built into the extension, and nothing you type is sent to Fairtake or anyone else. It never runs in password fields or in fields a site has marked not to spellcheck. Your settings, dictionary and turned-off checks are kept in your browser's extension storage, which your browser may sync between your own devices; suggestions you choose to keep stay on the device you chose them on. The extension has no account and doesn't share anything with your Fairtake documents.
Cookies and storage
One sign-in cookie keeps you logged in. Your browser also stores a copy of the checker so it loads faster next time. No advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
Documents you delete go to Trash and are removed for good after 30 days. Deleting your account (Account → Delete account) removes your documents, versions, dictionary, settings and reports straight away.
Your choices
You can download any document, change or delete your data from your account, and ask us for a copy of everything we hold about you. Write to support@fairtake.app.
