What it checks

  • Spelling and typos

    Misspelled and mistyped words, with the likeliest fixes first.

  • Grammar and punctuation

    Mix-ups like their and there, its and it’s, a and an, and words typed twice.

  • Wordy phrases

    “In order to” becomes “to”. Filler and vague intensifiers get a nudge.

  • Long sentences

    Sentences that run on are marked, and the rest of your text is left alone.

  • Tone

    Phrases that may sound demanding, and hedges that make a clear point sound unsure.

It checks American, British, Canadian, Australian and Indian English. Pick yours above the box.

It fixes mistakes, not your voice

Each suggestion changes only the words it points at. Press Use this to take it, or Keep mine to leave your text as it is. Fairtake never rewrites a whole sentence unless you ask it to.

Private by design

The checker runs on your device, built on the open-source Harper engine. Your text isn’t uploaded to be checked, and nothing on this page is saved. The first visit downloads the checker once; after that it opens straight away.
